Agam Bola
Third-year mechatronics student at TMU, building at the intersection of mechanical design, embedded electronics, and the software that controls them.
A little bit of everything, on purpose
Hi, I'm Agam. I'm a Mechatronics Engineering student at Toronto Metropolitan University with a strong interest in robotics, automation, and the connection between hardware and software.
I enjoy working on projects where I can take an idea and turn it into something real. Whether I'm programming, designing mechanical components, working with sensors and electronics, or troubleshooting a system, I like learning by building and figuring things out along the way.
My main interests are robotics, embedded systems, automation, and intelligent hardware. I am especially interested in projects that combine mechanical design, electronics, and programming into one complete system.
I take pride in being someone people can rely on to get the job done. I am always ready to put in the work, learn what is needed, and find a way forward when things get difficult.
Outside of school, I am always looking for ways to improve my technical skills and take on projects that challenge me. My goal is to continue gaining hands on engineering experience and eventually work on technology that solves real problems and has a meaningful impact.
This portfolio is a collection of the projects, experiences, and skills I have developed throughout my engineering journey.
Building systems that sense, move, and decide
Computer Vision Robotic Hand Controller
A 5-DOF robotic hand that mirrors your real hand's finger movements in real time through a webcam — no gloves required.
Project Timeline Risk Analyzer
A browser-based critical path scheduler with a Monte Carlo risk simulation on the project finish date.
Rubber-Band Powered Self-Parking Car
A wind-up, elastic-powered car built to knock over Jenga blocks and coast to a stop in a marked zone — for MEC322.
Coursework, term by term
Where the hands-on work happens
Software & UI Developer Intern
- Migrated the application's front end from WordPress to Shopify, reworking existing website content and adapting UI components to changing project goals and business needs
- Fixed a product customization bug causing incorrect colour and design rendering and unresponsive clicks when users selected garment styles, restoring core purchase flow functionality
- Rebuilt mobile view layout after identifying it was non-functional, enabling usable mobile access to the design tool for the first time
- Learned React and explored Shopify's backend systems independently to continue contributing effectively after the project's direction shifted
Vehicle Dynamics Member
- Designed and modelled three suspension components in SolidWorks as part of an eight-member Vehicle Dynamics team developing an off-road vehicle for SAE International competitions
- Supported design calculations, component testing, and design reviews to improve suspension performance, manufacturability, and vehicle reliability
Engineering Outreach Representative
- Represented TMU's Faculty of Engineering and Architectural Science at the Ontario Universities' Fair (OUF), one of the largest post-secondary recruitment events in Canada
- Engaged with prospective students and families to answer questions about the Mechatronics Engineering program, admission requirements, and student life
Supervisor
- Promoted to Supervisor and selected to the park's leadership team for the 2026 season, the third consecutive summer working at the park
- Earned Employee of the Week recognition multiple times for consistent performance in a high-volume, guest-facing environment
Mechatronics Engineering
Coursework spanning mechanical design, circuits and embedded systems, control theory, and programming — the full mechatronics stack.

Tune a PID controller yourself
This is the same kind of control loop used to keep a robot arm, drone, or motor on target. Drag the sliders and watch how the system responds — too aggressive and it overshoots and oscillates, too weak and it never quite gets there.
